PRSA Northeast Wisconsin Newsletter | October 2026
President's Corner

It’s spooky season, but not for Wisconsin sports teams! What an incredible time to be a proud Wisconsinite.
I’d like to share some thoughts on our recent PRSA event. In our world as public relations professionals, we work to successfully represent our respective companies and organizations. Our panelists shared insights on AI technology in the PR and communications field, including the benefits, ease of access, risks and ethical considerations. I learned quite a few new things, and the discussion was very eye-opening.
Something that came up several times was the importance of organizations strategically creating or implementing an AI-use policy and ensuring humans always have the final say. We also discussed ethical considerations, including defining what is unethical, understanding what AI tools are being used for, and making sure teams are properly trained.
My favorite quote from the evening was, “Don’t make AI a dirty word.” Whether or not you use AI in your professional or personal life is up to you.
Thank you to our fantastic panelists, everyone who attended, and the team who planned the event!
On another note, please consider attending our FREE Speed Networking Event at UW Oshkosh. This is a great way to connect with the next generation of professionals in our field! All communications professionals, college students and recent graduates are welcome. You don’t need to be a UW Oshkosh student to attend. I hope to see you there!

Local APRs are ready to indulge in both. Join us for coffee and conversation about the accreditation program. We’ll keep things light and informal, answering your questions, listening to your concerns, and sharing from personal experience why this could be the next best professional development opportunity for you!
